At the Burr King test lab, you can ship your test parts to our facility and our team will inspect, test, finish, and ship the parts back to you with a full report of our process and findings. Because Burr King is committed to quality and building lasting customer relationships, we provide this service to our customers for FREE.
What Type of Parts Can be Examined in the Test Lab?
Our team has the capability to test and finish a wide variety of parts and products. Our vibratory lab specializes in deburring and finishing test parts made of aluminum, stainless and mild steel, and alloys. Additionally, we offer testing of our belt grinders and deburring equipment with different grit belts and abrasive wheels so you can select the correct belts or wheels for your next machining project.
We have multiple vibratory units we utilize to accommodate customer part sizes and weight. The max part length we are able to test is 36 inches. The weight load our vibratory equipment allows varies depending on the unit selected, as well as parts per load. The knowledgeable and experienced team at Burr King will determine a machine size that best fits how many parts need to be mass finished per hour, day, or week to ensure the most efficient testing process for each customer’s parts.
The Test Lab Process
At the Burr King Test Lab, we maintain three different bench style bowl sizes, two stand-alone bowl sizes, and three chamber style sizes of vibratory testing machines to meet customer testing standards. Our largest machine measures 8.5 cubic feet.
Testing turnaround time is generally one week and is on a first come, first serve basis. Please send at least six to ten test parts if possible.
Note: IF YOU DO NOT SEND US ANY TYPE OF INSTRUCTIONS OR CONTACT INFO IN THE BOX WITH YOUR PARTS, WE WILL SHIP THEM BACK UNTOUCHED. WE PREFER YOU ALWAYS FILL OUT THE PDF FORM BELOW AND SEND IT WITH YOUR PARTS.
Step 2: Upon receiving your parts with the form properly completed, we will begin our testing process.
Step 3: Burr King will create a comprehensive report that is placed in the box with your parts and shipped back to you. We will also email the report to the customer and email a copy to the representative and distributor if needed.
We always test your parts according to the instructions provided to us.
The test and corresponding report provided will detail the following information:
- The machine or machines used to finish your parts
- What media, abrasives, wheels etc. used in the testing process
- The specifications the test machine has, if needed
- How much time the machine processed the parts and any soap, compounds, and media needed to reach the intended finish
- Any issues with the media or parts found and expected, potential issues that may arise later
