For decades Burr King Manufacturing has offered its customers the option of purchasing a dust collection system for their equipment.  Until just recently many manufactures have simply ignored the option for dust collection sighting upfront cost associated with air quality. While OSHA currently does not have a specific standard on combustible dust hazards, they are issuing fine under Section 5(a)(1) of the OSH Act, often referred to as the General Duty Clause, which requires employers to "furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which are free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees.

Dust control recommendations

--Use proper dust collection systems and filters

--Start a hazardous dust inspection, testing, housekeeping and control program

--Use surfaces that minimize accumulation of dust

--Provide access to hidden areas to allow inspection

--Minimize escape of dust from equipment and ventilation systems

--Regularly inspect for dust residues

--Use vacuum cleaners approved for dust collection

Burr King offers two models of dust collection systems for use with their equipment.  The Models 75 offers spark arresters and silencers.  The portable style cabinet that is designed to accommodate a single belt grinder or polisher provides 700 CFM powered by a one horse power industrial motor.  It's available in power options from 120 volts single phase to 440 volts three phase.

The Models 100 also offers spark arresters and silencers.  The stationary style cabinet allows for two machines to simultaneously connect to the 740 CFM unit powered by a one horse power industrial motor.  It's available in power options from 120 volts single phase to 440 volts three phase.

Both models are manufactured in the United States by Burr King Manufacturing.
