A Deep Dive into the Burr King Model 760 Three Wheel Belt Grinder
Model 760 Belt Grinder
The Burr King Model 760 Belt Grinder is a Three Wheel Belt Grinder designed to meet a variety of needs and functionality requirements. Burr King belt grinders offer expanded utility to customers and are proudly made in the U.S.A. to ensure lasting quality.
Below is a breakdown of all the Burr King Model 760 belt grinder’s features so you can operate your machine with confidence.

Cast Construction Belt Grinders vs Fabricated Metal Belt Grinders
One major difference that sets the Burr King Model 760 belt grinder apart from other grinders is cast construction, as opposed to fabricated metal. Cast construction gives the strength and rigidity to hold all the part pieces in location and makes a quieter running machine. The lower noise volume is due to a combination of the cast construction, the sealed bearings, and the balanced 5,000 rpm speed. On the other hand, fabricated metal has a tendency to loosen up and become very noisy.
Our belt grinders are designed to last and are made with quality materials and construction. The Burr King Model 760 belt grinder is ideal for a range of different grinding operations and can be manipulated to fit every customer application need.
Operating the Burr King Model 760 Belt Grinder
Grinding Placement Options
At Burr King, our belt grinders include a metal guard that satisfies both OSHA and safety committees, a back-up platen for flat or square grinding, and a tool rest. The tool rest can be set at any angle from a dead on 90 degree to any angle you need.
If you want to grind off of the contact wheel, lower the tool rest down, reposition the table into the wheel, and grind from the contact wheel. If you want to free hand the part piece, lower the tool rest all the way down and free hand grind off of the contact wheel. If you want to grind the inside radius of a part piece, remove the platen and work in the slack area of the belt. For light blending, work just above the contact wheel in the slack of the belt.
Belt Replacement
Changing the belt on the Model 760 belt grinder is a quick and simple process. Simply ratchet up the tensioning device and you are all set.
To track the belt, ensure the machine is running. The joints in all belts are hand-laid up and if the belt joint maker does not have the treads lined up perfectly, the new belt will track differently than the previous belt. Move the tracking knob forward and backward to move the abrasive belt across the contact wheel. This feature allows you to have complete control of the belt to position it where you want.
Parting Line Removal
The Burr King Model 760 three wheel belt grinder is adaptable for all your grinding needs.
If your operator needs to remove a parting line from his workpiece but is unable to access the piece’s radius by running it over the contact wheel, the operator may move into the slack of the belt where the radius can be reached in one simple pass. There is no twisting or turning needed for this adjustment, simply move the piece straight across the belt. However, for larger part pieces or tighter radiuses, the piece may need to be turned and the full throat depth of the frame may be required.
Metal Removal
All Burr King belt grinders are manufactured to the highest standards to ensure durability and dependable metal removal. The Model 760 belt grinder can operate at 8,000 surface feet per minute, much faster than other manufacturers, creating three definite benefits:
- The first benefit is a high and efficient metal removal rate.
- The second benefit is a cooler running belt which means both longer belt life and also cooler part piece.
- The third benefit is the belt will produce a finer scratch pattern running an 8,000 surface feet per minute. This allows you to use up to two grits coarser and still produce the same finish on your piece.
With the Model 760, operators can grind down in a 5/8” radius, without gouging. If that is not tight enough, operators are able to go down into this radius and gouge the part piece by cutting through the belt joint and ripping into the 1⁄2” track on our machine. While other belt grinders may not track a belt this narrow, Burr King’s tracking mechanism is accurate enough that we can do it.
For every Burr King machine, you have the option to have input power from 120 volts to 575 volts, single phase or three phase, and fixed speed or variable speed. We also have several horsepower options to meet every application need.
Deburring
Deburring is becoming a bigger market today and your Burr King Model 760 three wheel belt grinder is designed to meet all your deburring requirements to ensure each piece is smooth and free of any jagged edges.
With the Burr King Model 760 you can use a nylon abrasive wheel on the machine to create an even, flat surface. Because our front arbor is the driven arbor, we can use a simple adaptor and thread our nylon wheel directly to the machine. To add the deburring wheel to your Burr King belt grinder, loosen the tensioning device, pull the belt off, remove the contact wheel and put the new wheel on using one of our wheel adapters. The Model 760 is not just limited to nylon wheels, you can run most any wheel except a vitrified stone wheel.

The Ideal Machine
The Burr King Model 760 three wheel belt grinder is the ideal machine for a variety of grinding needs. Built to last, the Model 760 is designed with increased functionality and usability for the operator.
